July 27, 2005 - King & Snapper
We ventured out about 22 miles from the end of the jetty's to a short rig in about 45 feet of water. The bait used was primarily spanish sardines and squid. At first the fishing was slow because there were too many spade fish stealing our bait. We tried switching to large sinkers, but the spade fish were too fash even for an 8 oz sinker. What finally helped us out is that some kings moved in and chased away the spade fish.
Once again I was the only one to catch a King, but Michael did manage to get his first Red Snapper.
In all we had a 34" King, 5 Red Snapper from 15-17", and one Almaco Jack.
